Passing of Yves Dumont, one of Lassonde’s pillars
Rougemont, July 16, 2018 – It is with great sadness that Lassonde’s management team and employees learned of Mr. Yves Dumont passing on July 13, 2018. During a career spanning over 40 years, Mr. Dumont was one of the pillars of Lassonde Industries Inc., where he still worked as a consultant and board member at the time of his death.
Holding degrees in Food Science from the Institut national alimentaire de Paris and the University of California, Davis, Mr. Dumont was highly active in the quality control, quality assurance, and research and development sectors when he joined the Company in 1971.
His passion for technology development and transfer was a key factor in adopting new operational measures, particularly in packaging. When he worked as General Manager at Lassonde Technologies, he helped develop Hypa, a type of cardboard packaging that among other things, would revolutionize the production and distribution of our Oasis brand, thereby enabling Lassonde to improve its position and become a North American leader in the manufacturing and marketing of fruit and vegetable juices and drinks.
After dedicating over five years of his life to expanding our Company on the international scene, Mr. Dumont returned to his passion for development as Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Research and Development, Quality Assurance and Strategic Development, a position he held for nearly a decade. Even after his retirement, he remained active as a consultant for Lassonde Industries Inc., then as a board member.
As a respected manager and colleague, he stood among the great builders, always seeking new challenges and sustainable achievements. All of us in the great Lassonde family would like to extend our sincerest condolences to his wife Elisabeth, daughters Virginie (Robert Cussen), Stéphanie (Benoît Gosselin), Héloïse (Olivier Randon), his grand-children Julia, Clara, Zoé, Ella, Victor, his brother Daniel and his loved ones.
Those who wish to honour his memory may do so through a donation to the Quebec ALS Society (als-quebec.ca) or to the Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital (www.mcgill.ca/neurogiving).
The family will receive condolences on Wednesday, July 18, from 6 to 9 pm at the Mont-Royal Funeral Complex (1297, chemin de la Forêt, Outremont QC H2V 2P9). A religious ceremony in his memory will take place on Thursday, July 19 at 10:30 in the chapel of the complex and will be followed by a reception.
